The aim of the theoretical part of the thesis is to clarify the concept of authority related to its typology and the criteria of authority breakdown. Furthermore, the theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the teacher's authority and explains the connections of discipline and behaviour with authority in relation to the teacher's educational styles. The theoretical part of the thesis concludes with the personality of the teacher and the characteristics of the selected teaching styles. In the practical part of the thesis, the main task is to find out the general perception or evaluation of authority from the pupils' point of view, as well as what mainly constitutes the teacher's authority according to the pupils, which of the teaching and educational styles positively influence the teach-er's authority and which method is most often preferred by teachers to maintain discipline in the classroom. A questionnaire survey is used to result the objectives of the practical part of the thesis. The questions are directed to the respondents, i.e., the students at a gastronomy secondary vocational school and a secondary industrial school located in the Olomouc region. As a result of the exploratory investigation of the bachelor thesis it is found that the concept of au-torita is perceived by the pupils as respecting a person. Pu-pils evaluate the concept of authority as an important basis, especially for func-tioning in our society. Through authority, order is set, order is established and leads to decency. Teacher authority is based on professional-ness, conduct, fair-ness, and consistency. A teacher can strengthen his authority through teaching and educational style which is rich in knowledge, skills and directed towards under-standing and personality development of the students. As a means of maintaining discipline, teachers should use interesting teaching that raises pupils' attention and thus helps to maintain discipline in the classroom.

The theoretical part introduces the basic models of parenting styles and basic theoretical concepts connected to the pupils' school discipline, describes the changes in upbringing and pupils' school discipline in the course of time. The primary aim of the empirical part is to find out whether there are statistically significant differences in pupils' school discipline in relation to their parenting style. Another aim is to find out whether there is a statistically significant difference in discipline between the girls and the boys. In the research, which has a quantitative form, three questionnaires were used. These were: a questionnaire on parenting style, a questionnaire assessing the pupils' school discipline and a BFI-10 personality questionnaire. The questionnaire on parenting style was filled in by both the parents and the pupils in order to increase the validity of the research. The questionnaire assessing the pupils' school discipline was filled in by class teachers. The research sample consists of 117 pupils (from four elementary schools), 206 parents (115 mothers and 91 fathers) and 13 class teachers. The results of the research demonstrated that there is a statistically significant difference between the family's emotional relationships and the pupil's school discipline, and this was shown in the scale of discipline. No statistically significant difference between parenting control and pupil's school discipline was found in any category. In the unpreparedness for lessons and disruption of lessons categories a statistically significant difference was found in discipline between girls and boys - the girls are more disciplined than the boys in those categories. The analysis also revealed a statistically significant positive correlation between extraversion and the scale of discipline, a statistically significant negative correlation between agreeableness and telling lies, a statistically significant negative correlation between conscientiousness and cheating and last but not least a statistically significant negative correlation between openness to experience and the scale of discipline.
Regulation and Restriction of Entertaining Activities in the Environment of the Unity of the Brethren in the Pre-White Mountain Period
Růčková, Markéta
The effort of the Unity of the Brethren as a church group was to form a Christian community according to the biblical image of the Apostolic Church, in which the supreme authority is the Scripture, which also serves as the highest measure of proper conduct at all levels. The behaviour of all Brethren members was to be adapted to this accordingly. Although the social structure of the Brethren members changed over its existence, the principles of order and discipline, characterised by an emphasis on moral quality of life, obedience and God’s commandments applied to all its members, regardless of estate or social status. On the basis of\nnormative sources derived from fraternal leaders or issued in synodal resolutions, as well as narrative sources, especially sermons, it is possible to observe how the Brethren viewed the entertainment activities of its members, celebrations related to human life events, holidays, music and games. However, the strict rules necessarily led to their violation when applied in practical life. \n
